The sebum in the sebaceous ducts appears to open in the infundibulum, isthmus, inferior segment of the hair follicle.

A well-developed sausage-shaped sebum in the sebaceous duct has a peculiarly shaped base and is connected to a tiny comedo within the vellus follicle less than 0.5 mm deep.
